It is supposed to be over 100 tomorrow. Now, lest you Southerners begin to snicker....remember....year-round moderate temperatures mean that there is NO AIR CONDITIONING - and I don't just mean in houses. A lot of restaurants, stores, and even libraries don't have A/C. In the South, when it's hot, you go inside, turn on the A/C and watch movies or whatever you want to do. Here, when it's hot, you can go play in a public fountain, or maybe go to a mall, which more than likely DOES have air conditioning, but because this is very common knowledge, every place with air will be PACKED. Add to that the fact that there are an extra 10,000 people or so (yes, literally) in town for SeaFair this week and there is nowhere to go to escape the heat. The best you can do is hunker down and sweat it out. I have three fans in my tiny apartment and the cats and I have been sitting in front of them all day with the lights out to give the illusion that it's actually cool. I have some sewing to do, but the thought of turning
on an iron vetoes that idea quickly. It is also the reason I haven't done dishes, laundry, or anything else today. Top story on the news tonight? How to make a swamp cooler. And it's supposed to be this hot through Friday. It is going to be a long week.
To get out of the heat for a while, I did go to Goodwill today (my car has A/C, thanks to the fact that I bought it in Texas, so I drove quite slowly and relished every minute) and because clothes shopping depresses me to no end I wandered around the rest of Goodwill and found this pen set....
There is only one pen missing and they all work. 56 glorious colors...
Now if I could only distract myself from the heat.
